The Kalyx-RG is a cost-effective rain-fall measurement solution for meteorologists and hobbyists or for those projects with a modest budget that still require scientific standard rain-fall data. The Kalyx-RG has a 5” MET office standard funnel which feeds rainfall into a tipping bucket offering 0.2mm resolution. This optimised aerodynamic shape also ensures that the unit is ideal for short and long term field work. The Kalyx-RG is a compact solution and an ideal rain measuring instrument for anyone who cares about the quality and accuracy of their data.

Traditionally, cylindrical shape rain gauges can be inaccurate due to wind blowing over the orifice of the rain gauge. This is due to the physical presence of the gauge causing air to accelerate carrying rainfall away from the vessel collecting the rainfall. The effects of this have seen a reduction in rainfall catch of up to 20% on competitors models. However due to the aerodynamic design of the Kalyx-RG this effect is reduced providing a high level of confidence in the measurements.

Data from the rain gauge is recorded via a calibrated pulse output which can be integrated into a local logger such as our OM-CPPulse 101, which provides the user with a battery powered data logger, where data can be downloaded or configured using a PC. If however remote data collection is required the pulse output can be connect to our range of telemetry system, which allows the user to view data via a cloud based web platform interface.
